We've been hard at work behind the scenes, getting up and running with our new venture.

From 1st April, we'll be in residence at Yorkshire Lavender, offering an exciting new menu, Pop-Up events, afternoon teas, picnics and more.

About us

Our adventure began when we met in Australia in 2011. Since moving back to North Yorkshire, the adventures continued with highlights including winning Welcome to Yorkshire's Pub of the Year, achieving entry into the Michelin Guide, and winning Pub Food of the Year before moving on and starting By Harri & Ed, catering for all events in North Yorkshire, from private intimate dinner parties to weddings, christenings and big birthdays.

Apologies for the delayed announcement regarding our new venture…we were a tad sidetracked but delighted to welcome the new addition to the @byharri_n_ed family - Freddie James Allen born on Thursday 19th March at 12.14pm.

After a long stint in York Hospital we are finally home and will be revealing our exciting plans for our opening next Wednesday 1st April tomorrow. Thank you to everyone who have been such superstars helping Ed and myself over the last few weeks with Tommy and setting up the bistro - you are all legends!

For those on our mailing list, we will be sending you an exclusive this evening so you can catch a sneak peak of what’s in store.

Getting the gang back together!

For those of you that remember our pub days, you may recall the delicious coffee we used to serve which came from @lontoncoffee.

We are delighted to say we have teamed up with them again for our new venture and created our own blend using only the finest ingredients. Thank you @newsome_sh for organising and providing some staff training yesterday. We are also excited to say that if you like the blend, you will be able to enjoy the coffee in the comfort of your own home with one of our retail packs…nom nom!

You know you’re getting older when you start getting more excited about coffee than gin…well almost!

Training sessions have begun for our latest venture…Tommy is learning fast on our pizza night Fridays!

However he says he is too busy to join the @byharri_n_ed team with his play commitments and busy social life so we are looking for staff to join our team!

No experience necessary although a personality is a must! Various roles available including weekday work between school pick up hours and of course, weekends. Please get in touch to find out more…

First and foremost, we are so sorry for the radio silence recently, we have been busy little beavers getting our exciting new project underway.

The bad news is that we will NOT be attending @sheriffhuttonvillagemarket this Sunday.

The good news is that all will be revealed NEXT week when we announce our new venture which is due to be open from 1st April (yes April Fools Day and no it is not a joke)!

It’s our FINAL Menu for 2025 folks! We understand Christmas is fast approaching which means that New Year’s Eve is round the corner…let us help with the catering and provide some yummy grub for you to ring in the New Year with.

Canapés to go with the celebratory Fizz, a cheeky Fish Platter to go with the White Wine, Ed’s Special Beef Wellington to match a lovely full bodied Red and finish off with a Choccy Fondant and some Sloe Gin. We’ll provide the grub if you do the drinks?!

It’s the FINAL Countdown! If you have not already done so, please get in touch by Sunday (14th) evening to place your Christmas Orders!

Delivery for all orders will take place on Tuesday 23rd December with collection available on Monday 22nd. All will be made by our own @chef_ed_allen of course with full cooking instructions provided. We only use local suppliers for our produce so all meat will be from @sykeshousefarm and veg from @dalesthechefschoice.

YIPPEE!! We survived our FIRST outing in our new baby and what a fabulous evening it was too! Super well organised, the weather behaved and added bonus…we SOLD OUT!

November Menu now LIVE! We will be doing a delivery of @chef_ed_allen’s grub once a month alongside the market and pop ups. Deliveries will take place on a Friday and all dishes are freshly prepared therefore the majority is suitable for freezing. Full cooking instructions also provided.

Ed’s infamous Pies are back on the menu and we have over 30 Pies on order so far…They are freshly prepared and therefore great for the freezer in particular with the festive period coming up - a good idea to stock up for when those friend and relatives pop round!

We are super excited for our FIRST outing in our food truck (yet to be named) and will be serving Loaded Fries THIS Saturday @slingsbyssc. We hope there is something for everyone - must admit I enjoyed being the guinea pig last night testing out different toppings to finalise the menu!

We will be there from 5 pm and being locals to Slingsby, would highly recommend to all to come down. Donations on the door, Kids Fireworks, Main Fireworks, a MEGA Bonfire, food stalls, a bar and a DJ After Party…literally cannot think of a better way to enjoy this Saturday night!

Good Evening All,

It has been a while but we are delighted to announce we are back out and about delivering in time for the Festive Period and beyond....

A couple of exciting announcements (in addition to delivering Ed’s grub again):

* We will be at Sheriff Hutton Village Market THIS Sunday from 1030 - 130.
* We have recently purchased a Food Truck and will be at our first event in the truck on Saturday 1st November - the Slingsby Bonfire & Fireworks Evening (from 5pm).
* We will be delivering a Christmas Menu which will hopefully be live next week so you will be able to stock up on all sorts of Ed’s goodies to feed the family over Christmas.
* We will be doing our at home meals again with the first delivery taking place next Friday (24th) with orders to be placed no later than 11am on Monday 20th.
* Oh and Tommy is going to be a BIG Brother....!

We are hoping to be able to set up regular evenings in the surrounding villages with the Food Truck (not yet named). If you think your village would be keen for us to pop up for a specific event or even on a more regular basis, please get in touch. We are in the process of developing different menus/cuisines to serve from the truck and will as always, keep you posted.

Who’s excited??? It’s Sheriff Hutton Village Market TOMORROW from 1030-130 and @chef_ed_allen has been super busy baking all sorts of goodies - menu at the end!

Here’s a clip from last months stall showcasing most of the delicious grub which we will be offering at tomorrows market. Don’t forget to bring your bags so you can get them filled up with local produce from a huge variety of stalls!

It is also the Sheriff Hutton Scarecrow trail so pick up some tasty snacks and have a walk around the village to see everyone’s fabulous creations. Tommy enjoyed his visit today and of course a cheeky stop at The Highwayman for some refreshments. Scarecrow trails are available to purchase from the village hall.

We have had the BEST time enjoying the post shoot break in Feb with family and friends! Tommy is growing up to be a right little character and we are so lucky to have @daisy_daycare to help!

Didn’t take us long to go back to @duncombe.park as we took T to the P2P.

Super blessed to have @castle_howard on our doorstep so have had multiple walks there with Dora Dog too of course. Obviously a few trips to our local @thegrapesinnslingsby too!

We had a fabulous trip to @hamertonzoopark with the grandparents where T fell asleep before getting to any of the bigger animals. Luckily we have @flamingolandresort close by so he enjoyed seeing the lions/tigers/rhinos/giraffes etc there!

We stopped for an impromptu lunch and I had arguably one of the best meals of my life (even @chef_ed_allen was impressed) at @arras_york. Would highly recommend to all!

We have definitely made the most of it despite not going abroad for some winter sun but now back to work for us all. First stop @sheriffhuttonvillagemarket THIS Sunday! Keep your eyes peeled for what’s on the menu!
